3 Take Aways From The Spurs vs Wycombe Match

Tottenham Hotspur beat Wycombe Wanderers 4-1 in the 4th Round of the FA Cup. There were 3 key take aways from the match from Tottenham's perspective.

1. Reliance On The Main Players

The scoreline was 1-1 at halftime after several chances to score for Tottenham. Key players to the team such as Son, Kane, Ndombele, and Hojberg were on the bench in hopes of resting for the Liverpool match. However, Mourinho had to sub on all 4 of the players that were rested in order to beat Wycombe 4-1. It was only after Son and Ndombele were substituted on that Spurs created more chances. Tanguy Ndombele was named official Man of The Match by the club after scoring a brace. On the other hand, everyone can expect goals in Spurs' favor when these key players are on the field.

2. Wasteful Chances

There were several key chances for the Tottenham attackers in the first half. The likes of Moura, Lamela, Vinicius, and Bale had chances to put the ball in the back of the net in the first half. Bale was the only player to convert the chances into a goal. Arguments could be made that the starting players in the attack were out of form because a lack of game time.

3. Defensive Errors

Despite having a good defensive record in the Premier League, Tottenham's defense has been shaky this season. In the 25th minute, poor defending from Toby Aldeweireld and an error from Davinson Sanchez allowed Wycombe Wanderer winger, Fred Onyedinma to score which gave Wycombe a 1-0 lead. Thankfully, Spurs weren't punished for their poor defending. If Spurs are to get a result against Liverpool on Thursday, they must not make defensive mistakes because the Liverpool attackers will be ready to pounce on every mistake.
