Match Analysis:

Defense:
Individual defensive errors were the main cause of the defeat once again. Tottenham's defense have been on a poor run in defense in recent matches.

Davies struggled to catch up with the pace of Raheem Sterling on the left side. He allowed crosses to made and allowed several shots in the left side.

Sanchez and Dier were poor in the 2nd half. They were out of position multiple times which allowed players like Ilkay Gundogan to shoot and score. Sanchez was completely out of position in the 3rd Man City goal. However, the center back pairing made several blocks in the penalty box in the first half.

Tanganga received his first Premier League start of the season. He went forward multiple times, but failed to show anything. He was struggling to defend on the right side against a very pacey Man City attack. However, he made many successful dribbles going forward.

This was Lloris' worst performance in a Tottenham shirt. He got his hand/foot on the ball for the 3 goals, but he failed to keep them out. Lloris should've saved the penalty and he should've saved Gundogan's first goal.

Midfield:
There were many individual errors in the midfield which allowed Man City attackers to counter attack and create chances.

Hojberg displayed his worst performance in a Tottenham shirt this match. He lost the ball countless amount of times and couldn't find space to pass forward. He didn't drop into gaps in the Tottenham defense which ultimately led to the Manchester City goals. In the first half, he committed the foul on Gundogan which led to a penalty.

Ndombele looked lively at the beginning of the match, but then disappeared for the remainder of the match. He made some forward runs into the opposition box, but it led to nothing.

Attack:
There were barely any chances that were created from Tottenham's attack. Passes weren't successfully made and attacking chances turned into Man City counter attacks quickly.

Apart from the freekick that hit the post, Harry Kane was quiet this match. He lost the ball many times and couldn't find players to pass to. He had no shot on target from open play which led to Tottenham's poor attacking chances.

Son Heung Min made no runs and made no effort to try and shoot at the opposition goal. He made backward passes countless amount of times which broke down Tottenham's attacking play.

Erik Lamela was one of the better attackers. He made several runs, but the pass didn't come to him. He attempted to dribble past the Man City defense, but was unsuccessful. Lamela's work ethic was good today, but there was no end product.

Lucas Moura disappeared against Manchester City. He didn't attempt to shoot or even attempt to dribble at the opposition defense. He made runs, but the ball didn't reach his foot.

Bale created several chances, that were on target, when he came into the match. He showed good footwork which almost led to Tottenham's consolation goal.

Dele Alli looked clueless in the center of the pitch. He made several unsuccessful passes and slowed down the attacking play countless amount of times.

Although Manchester City's great form led to their victory, Tottenham displayed a poor performance. There were no attacking plays, too many backward passes, and too many passes that didn't reach a player.

Tottenham play Wolfsberger in the Round of 32 of the Europa League. Tottenham must focus their attention to the Carabao Cup final and the Europa League in order to achieve the long-awaited silverware. The players must pick up their heads from this defeat and display great performances in the upcoming Premier League matches.
