3 Take Aways From Tottenham vs Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur was beaten at home by Liverpool in a 1-3 loss in the Premier League.

1. Reliance On Harry Kane

Tottenham had several attacking chances in the first half which included Son's goal which was later deemed as offside. There was a certain flow in the attackers in the first half which led to a lot of good chances to score. However, when Kane picked up an injury and was substituted off at half-time, the attackers were non-existent. Son and Bergwijn made good runs, but there was no central player feeding them the chances. The second half really highlighted the importance of Harry Kane to this Tottenham team.

2. Poor Lineup Decisions

Jose Mourinho is known as a very experienced manager who has won many trophies at other clubs. However, he has been making some poor decisions for the substitutions. Spurs fans have been complaining on social media about Jose's choices for substitutions. Spurs fans expected Carlos Vinicius to come on right after the half time since Harry Kane was injured. However, Vinicius wasn't subbed onto the pitch at all. Instead, Jose brought on Winks, Lamela, and Bale which raised many questions for the fans.

3. Defensive Errors

Despite having a good defensive record in the beginning of the Premier League, Tottenham's defense has been shaky in the second-half of the season. Individual errors have led to many goals conceded for Tottenham's backline. Once again, defensive errors were the cause of their defeat. Miscommunication between Dier and Lloris allowed Firmino to score the first goal of the match. It was a night to forget for Lloris because he made multiple errors which costed the team 2 goals. Joe Rodon had a solid match until he made an error which led to Salah's goal and Liverpool's third of the match.

If Tottenham are to seriously challenge for the Top 4 this season, then the players will have to begin producing better performances. On the bright side, Tottenham are in the Carabao Cup Final which is something that Spurs fans and players will be looking forward to.

There are several tough matches coming up in the Premier League which means the players cannot lose concentration for a single second. In Jose We Trust.
